Grandparents and Mentors,
We hope you all will be able to have donuts and coffee with us in the morning. Parking options will be behind the old high school, in the gym parking lot east of the auditorium, or against the curb of the old high school or elementary building on College St. We do have a nice new sidewalk going from the old highschool parking lot to the front entrance of the school where everyone will enter. Thank you and we hope to see you all soon. 🍩☕️

Attention parents! Student drop-off and pick-up will take place at the north-east corner of the new school building on good weather days. You will enter the new service drive FROM Petit Avenue and drive down to the corner of the building. We are working on creating name tags for you to display in vehicles to make pick-up a smoother process. If we have a bad weather day, we will shift drop-off and/or pick-up to the north-west corner of the new building. Traffic will always flow FROM Petit Avenue and will exit school ground at North Reynolds Street. Thank you for your patience as we get this new process worked out!
TCISD on campus student drivers need to purchase a new parking pass from Mrs Geri in the front office.

Early Elementary Parents,
This afternoon and tomorrow morning, please pick up and drop off students at the north end of the school in the same location as the older students. (Turning right onto Pettit St. off of College at the four way stop and then right again onto the school driveway) Tomorrow afternoon we will be able to resume parking behind the old high school and walking students to and from the parking lot across the new sidewalk. We appreciate your flexibility with our brief change of plans. It’s been a great day on the hill and the students are loving the new school!
Students proudly said the Pledge this morning in their new cafeteria. 💜

This week's Dress up Theme is; Hawaiian Day! Aloha!

Early Elementary Parents,
Beginning in the morning, you may turn right off College Street and enter between the old schools, and park your vehicle behind the old high school for drop-off and pick-up. This will allow you to walk your child to the front entrance of the new school. We will have staff in place to help during this time. To exit the campus, please drive behind the gym and exit on North Reynolds Ave. behind Clint’s gas station

We can't wait to see our students' grandparents and mentors this coming Friday, September the 6th!

Today is bittersweet for many in our community. It is the last day of school before we make the big move to the new building, but it also the last time that children will attend class in our old elementary building. While we all look forward to the new space, we will also miss the place that so many Throckmorton alumni and current students called home for many years.

TCISD has created a new procedure for student drop-off and pick-up. This new system will begin next week (9/4/2024) for all students. TCISD staff will be present at drop-off and pick-up to guide students to and from the building. Details of this change are listed in the attached image. Please understand that these new expectation are to be followed until further changes are announced by the district.

We want to wish our Lady Pups good luck as they travel to Brock this afternoon for this week's Cross Country meet! These girls have worked so hard in preparation, and we can't wait to hear how they do!
TCISD's district calendar has been updated as a result of our move to the new school building. Tuesday (9/3/2024) is now a staff professional development day. Students will enjoy an extended Labor Day weekend and then return to school on Wednesday (9/4/2024). As a result of this change, Friday (9/13/2024) is now a regular instructional day for all staff and students.

It's the first home game so you know what that means...let's show our school spirit and dress up like Construction workers 👷🏼. Safety vest, flannels shirts, work boots, hard hats, tool belts. Show up and show out! Let's go Greyhounds! 🚧🦺👷🏼💜💛💜Join us at 3:30pm in the gym Friday for the Pep Rally!

Greyhound football is looking for someone to be the voice of the Greyhounds in the pressbox for Friday night games. If you would be interested or know someone that might be. Please contact Coach Lowery at loweryc@throck.org.

A Friendly Reminder From Nurse Key-
As we begin a new school year, we would like to remind our families that head lice are one of the nuisances that parents of school age children occasionally find themselves dealing with. We understand that when students are in close head-to-head contact, lice can spread. School is one of many places a child can come in contact with lice. Other common places are a friends' home during sleepovers, during sports activities involving head-to-head contact and anytime a child shares clothing (hats, jackets, pillows, or brushes) with other children. Parents are encouraged to check their child's head weekly for nits (lice eggs), which would indicate the presence of an adult, egg-laying louse. Please notify your child's school if lice
are found on your child. At school, routine classroom lice checks will not be initiated. Data from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the CDC show that this practice disrupts classroom time and is not effective in controlling the spread of lice.

Homecoming shirt pre-orders are open soon! Starting next week (8/26 - 8/30), we will have pre-order forms sent home with all TCISD students. Community members interested in purchasing a shirt may pick up an order form in the front office with Mrs. Collins. "Purple Out" is our homecoming gameday theme. Show your support and get your shirt pre-ordered!

We will be holding our Fall 2024 picture day on October 3, 2024. Class and individual pictures will be taken this time. We will have another picture day in the Spring where we will include senior portraits.
