A Friendly Reminder From Nurse Key-
As we begin a new school year, we would like to remind our families that head lice are one of the nuisances that parents of school age children occasionally find themselves dealing with. We understand that when students are in close head-to-head contact, lice can spread. School is one of many places a child can come in contact with lice. Other common places are a friends' home during sleepovers, during sports activities involving head-to-head contact and anytime a child shares clothing (hats, jackets, pillows, or brushes) with other children. Parents are encouraged to check their child's head weekly for nits (lice eggs), which would indicate the presence of an adult, egg-laying louse. Please notify your child's school if lice
are found on your child. At school, routine classroom lice checks will not be initiated. Data from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the CDC show that this practice disrupts classroom time and is not effective in controlling the spread of lice.
Homecoming shirt pre-orders are open soon! Starting next week (8/26 - 8/30), we will have pre-order forms sent home with all TCISD students. Community members interested in purchasing a shirt may pick up an order form in the front office with Mrs. Collins. "Purple Out" is our homecoming gameday theme. Show your support and get your shirt pre-ordered!
We will be holding our Fall 2024 picture day on October 3, 2024. Class and individual pictures will be taken this time. We will have another picture day in the Spring where we will include senior portraits.

The meeting will take place this Tuesday (8/20/2024) in the HS library and is scheduled to begin at 5:00pm. We welcome any and all members of our community as we work together to enhance the health and wellbeing of our students and staff!

As Kids Count Director I don't feel like we are 100% ready for Kids Count Kickoff, so we are postponing it for one week. Kids Count Kickoff will be August 21st from 6-7:30 pm. We will have Kids Class and youth tomorrow evening from 6-7:30 pm. Just like we have had all summer. Prayer meeting and Bible Study will be from 6:30-7:30pm. Rest up for a week and be ready!😊

We are happy to welcome back to the TCISD campus our Region 9 mental health counselor, David Daniels, MA, LMFT. Mr. Daniels has served our campus the last 3 semesters and he provides mental health counseling to our students and faculty at no cost to the family or the district. If you are interested in signing your student up for his services you can scan the QR code and fill out the form and he will contact you. If you have any questions you can email or call him directly to find out more about the program. Mr. Daniels is also on our campus on Tuesdays and he would love to meet with you personally. We're off to a great start for the 2024-2025 school year! Our 4th and 5th graders were busy this morning making sure that our flags are flying high!
We finished our inservice week with a superb Italian meal and generous door prizes from our friends at the Church of Christ! We are not sure if other schools receive the kindness and support TCISD does but we sure hope they do! Thank you to all that were involved in getting the luncheon together, we truly appreciate it. 💜
We have updated our in-town bus route and created ESTIMATED times for morning pick-up and afternoon drop off. Please see the attached image for this new information. Please have your child at the designated bus stop five minutes prior to the listed pick-up time in the mornings.
A delicious stuffed potatoes meal was provided for us by our friends at the Methodist Church this week. Their kindness blesses us more than we can express and we appreciated it so much. 💜
Throckmorton Collegiate ISD is blessed with a truly wonderful group of staff members! Students start back this coming Monday, and these folks have done an awesome job preparing for a great start. 2024-2025 is going to be the best year yet!
