Earns money and prizes for Greyhound Football Program

April 02, 2009

Students from Mrs. Balthrop's Video and Multimedia Classes participated in a Six-man Football Video Contest last fall sponsored by sixmanfootball.com.  The goal of the contest was to promote the sport beyond the state of Texas by highlighting Six-man football along with the diversity and uniqueness of the towns and the teams.  THS produced a short video and submitted it to the contest back in October 2008.  Mrs. Balthrop was notifiied the first week in March that their video had tied for first place with Fort Davis's video.  The school won $500  to be used for the football program, along with a $200 gift certificate to Football America.  The school also received a trophy to display.  This was the first video contest THS had ever entered and Mrs. Balthrop and her students were very excited about winning.  The director of the contest Teresa Bourgoise stated in her letter to Mrs. Balthrop, "Congratulations once again to you and your students for the outstanding work!  You far exceeded our expectations with your entry and we believe you've set a high standard for next year's competition."  Fred and Teresa Bourgoise visited THS  to present the school with their giant winning check and take publicity photos to help promote next year's competition. Student filmmakers and editors were Caleb Dennis, Sam Norman and Fred Foster along with their teacher, Mrs. Balthrop.
